Western View CashmereCashmere fiber is the soft, downy undercoat of the animal. It is protected by the long denser guard hair. The animals grow their woolly coats in the cold weather and shed them in the early spring. That is when the combing or shearing takes place. The fiber is sent out to be commercially dehaired (separated from the guard hair) and is then ready for spinning. Colors range from white to beige and light gray to dark charcoal gray.
